Moto Morini Alltrhike 450 test: Introduction and positioning

While many brands seem committed to manufacturing the most powerful mid-range trail bike, with more electronics or the most aggressive aesthetics, Moto Morini has decided to take a completely different path. The new Alltrhike 450 does not aim to win the numbers war. It does not need an explosive engine, nor seven driving modes, nor an aesthetic inspired by the Dakar to justify its existence.

Its objective is much simpler: to offer a comfortable, logical and tremendously easy-to-drive motorcycle for all those who understand adventure as an experience and not as a competition.

After a week combining road and dirt tracks, we can say that perhaps this is precisely its greatest success.

Test Moto Morini Alltrhike 450: A different motorcycle from the first look

The first thing that stands out is that it does not seem like a copy of any other trail on the market. In a category where many motorcycles are beginning to resemble each other, Moto Morini has managed to give it its own personality. And that says a lot when competing against models like the CFMOTO 450 MT (450 cc | 175 kg | 42 hp | €6,495), QJ Motor SRT 450RX (449 cc | 196 kg | 47 hp | €5,299) or the Kawasaki KLE500 (451 cc | 195 kg | 45 hp | 6,500 €).

It has very marked lines, a different front, a compact body with an Italian touch and details that make it clear that behind it there is a very specific idea: to create a motorcycle to travel and get lost on tracks without complications.

The name itself already gives us a clue. Alltrhike combines “All Trail” with “Hike”, an English word associated with excursions and hiking. And precisely that sums up his philosophy quite well. It is not a motorcycle to race. It is a motorcycle to go out and do many kilometers

Under all that bodywork we find an old acquaintance. The 450 cc parallel twin, developed by CFMOTO, delivers 44.5 HP and 44 Nm of torque, perfect figures for the A2 license. It is an engine that has already proven to be reliable, refined and very pleasant to use. It has different electronics than the CFMTO 450 MT, less aggressive, less pointed.

Furthermore, vibrations are practically non-existent and from the first moment it conveys a feeling of quality much higher than what we would expect in a 5,990 euro motorcycle. And if. That information is key. It gives a lot for a little, as we will now see.

This bike is not designed for those seeking strong emotions. It is designed for those who want to enjoy and experience the motorcycle from another angle. It may seem like a small difference. But it completely changes the experience.

The accelerator has an extraordinarily progressive feel. There are no abrupt responses. There are no on-off jerks, there is no more abrupt first gas shot that we find in other models. Everything happens very naturally. That means that from the first kilometer it generates enormous confidence. Especially for riders with little experience in the field or for those who simply want to travel without fighting with the motorcycle.

And that, although many do not appreciate it on paper, ends up making a difference when you have been on it for eight hours.

Ergonomics follows exactly the same philosophy. The seat is located at 840 mm, but the narrowness of the motorcycle allows you to reach the ground very easily. At 1.80 m, I arrive with both feet completely supported and a smaller size will do so comfortably as well. The knees are slightly bent, the handlebars are well positioned and the general feeling is one of absolute comfort.

Yes indeed. We decided to turn it slightly forward to improve standing driving. As standard, it is oriented towards road use and with that small adjustment the off-road position improves considerably.

The suspensions on this Alltrhike are also part of this concept; it has an adjustable 41 mm inverted KYB fork, with 210 mm of travel, while at the back we find a monoshock also adjustable with 190 mm. On paper it looks like a clearly country setup. But the setting is quite smooth. And that is not a brand decision. Because this configuration absorbs bumps, filters out irregularities very well and makes the motorcycle very comfortable both on the road and on fast tracks. But don’t be fooled that it is comfortable does not mean that at a good pace it penalizes, I assure you that I rode hard with it and I was very pleasantly surprised. Fabulous work has been done in this regard.

All this comfort translates into enormous ease in covering kilometers. In addition, its low consumption and its 18.5 liter tank will allow us to travel nearly 400 km without refueling.

Just because it’s a quiet bike doesn’t mean it’s boring. Quite the opposite. If we run the twin-cylinder in the high rev range (6,000 – 8,000 rpm), a very playful motorcycle with character appears. The 6-speed gearbox is precise and does not fail and this gives us a lot of play and security at the controls.

The brakes entrusted to J.Juan have a soft touch at first but then its 4-piston caliper bites forcefully and conveys a lot of security. The ABS is not intrusive and allows us to drive quickly without scares.

In addition, it reaches just over 155 km/h, so maintaining legal cruises of 120 km/h means traveling with the engine very relieved.

Moto Morini Alltrhike 450 test: In the field, it delivers

Off the asphalt he once again demonstrates what his true personality is. It is a very noble motorcycle. Very predictable. Very easy to carry. Not intimidating. And that makes you quickly start enjoying it. In addition to being one of the lightest on the market (170 kg), it feels that way. The 21-inch wheel gives us play in the field and its geometries make it move very well on twisty terrain and paths.

In off-road we find some details that could be improved. The first is that the front ABS cannot be disabled. Yes, we can eliminate the rear ABS and disconnect the traction control, but the front one always remains active. The traction control must be removed when stopped, a detail that other brands already allow it to be done while moving.

Furthermore, the footpegs are somewhat narrow for off-road use (and it is difficult to remove the rubber) and the exhaust is close to them, which means that if you have large feet when standing, your boot may touch you. For calm trail use it is hardly a problem but if we want more demanding off-road driving, it is quite limiting.

Test Moto Morini Alltrhike 450: Much more equipped than you expect

It has a horizontal TFT screen with connectivity, space and horizontal bar to mount another device, Full LED lighting, on-board computer, disconnectable traction control, adjustable screen, central stand as standard and several very intelligent details.

One of the ones I liked the most are the four integrated anchors on the tank to attach a bag without having to install accessories. Also the back seat. By removing a simple piece we obtain a completely flat surface with rally aesthetics.

Additionally, you can have the full version with heated grips and seats for a little more.
