He Aragon GP ensures its continuity until next 2026 within the MotoGP world championship, thanks to the agreement reached between the Government of Aragon and Dorna so that the community hosts this event uninterruptedly throughout the seasons. 2024, 2025 and 2026.
The Minister of Environment and Tourism and president of MotorLand, Manuel Blascohas signed this commitment today, also signed by the CEO of Dorna Sports, Carmelo Ezpeleta. On this matter, Blasco himself commented:
“Thanks to this agreement, area businesses, fans and the organization can prepare this event in advance. It is very important that people who invest in the territory can plan for three years, which gives a guarantee of operation and success.”
The Aragon GP is one of the unmissable MotoGP events every year.
For his part, Carmelo Ezpeleta has declared that: “We are very happy to confirm continuity with the Government of Aragon for a period of three more seasons that include 2024, 2025 and 2026.”
And concludes: “The organization of this Grand Prix has always been exemplary and its presence on the calendar denotes that it is already fully consolidated therein. “The area’s tradition in motorsports is proof that MotorLand continues this historic legacy.”
MotoGP will return to Aragon GP on August 30-31 and September 1 of this year 2024, in which fans will be able to enjoy the new format of the premier category with the Sprint race on Saturday.
The circuit is renewed for this new stage
Parallel to the new agreement signed by the Government of Aragon and Dorna, the works for the resurfacing of the circuit have begun, works in which 6.2 million euros will be invested from the Teruel Investment Fund (FITE), and totally necessary to to be able to guarantee the continuity of the Aragon GP.
The work, which will be carried out in several phases, covers a work of high technical complexity, with state-of-the-art equipment, which will address the resurfacing of 75,000 square meters and the replacement of 700 meters of curb. The reason is none other than the end of the useful life of the MotorLand asphalt, inaugurated in 2009.
That is why the FIM safety commission requested the resurfacing of MotorLand to be able to hold the MotoGP world championship in 2024 at the Ciudad del Motor de Aragón facilities.
In addition, the organization has also requested the replacement of the curbs on turns 7, 10, 15 and 17 of the circuit with a more current curb model that offers 80% greater effectiveness.
