After a decade on the market, according to the accounts we have from previous years, this upcoming 2025 season would see a renewal for the well-known S 1000 R from BMW Motorrad.
Although the German firm launched the model on the market in 2014, it was not until 2017 when it gave it its first facelift. Later, in 2021, it carried out a complete update, including a new 165 HP tetra-cylinder engine, in addition to reducing its final weight by 6.5 kg.
BMW S 1000 R 2025: only aesthetic changes?
Now it has been the colleagues at Cycle World who have published an image of the patent registration where it is clearly seen how the S 1000 R is ready to evolve again for next year. Its newly designed front stands out, where the brand uses a dual-optic headlight to replace the one it currently uses.
In this way, the brand comes closer to the image that the M 1000 RR transmits in its front view, with a headlight design similar to that shown on the brand’s sports naked. Just below these appears the steering damper hidden in the current version by the shape of the front fairing in charge of integrating the headlight.
Beyond this notable detail, we can also see how the exhaust system blends into the lower part of the assembly, and we do not know if the side silencer will be maintained as before. These changes could be associated with some improvements in the mechanical aspect, although this information would still be confirmed.
Let us remember that the S 1000 R 2024 has the 999 cc in-line 4-cylinder engine based on the one found in the BMW S 1000 RR. However, unlike this, “lacks the ShiftCam variable valve timing and lift system”like her older sister.
At this point we will have to wonder if BMW intends to increase the power of its new 2025 variant, or, on the contrary, will maintain the current figures despite the rest of the changes made.
