The British Superbike was considered, along with the AMA and All Japan, as the most powerful national championship. Nowadays the path to reach the WSBK does not necessarily go through the peculiar British routes, but it is still one of the national routes with the most follow-up and with really powerful structures.
The 2024 British Superbike season will also be different because it starts this weekend but very far from the United Kingdom, and its tortuous and spectacular circuits. We are talking about the Navarra Circuit, owned by MSV, which in turn owns many of the tracks where the BSB is held: Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Oulton Park, Snetterton, Cadwell Park and Bedford Autodrome are in its portfolio. And not only that, MSVR (the company's racing division) also owns the rights to the BSB.
The fact is that they have escaped the British spring to compete in a warmer Spain for the first round of the season and, also, the last preseason tests in a marathon week. And the tests have been taking place since the 16th, which will end on Friday before, on Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st, giving way to the competition.
It is not the first time that the British Superbike has crossed borders, although it had never come to Spain before. The usual thing was Assen, in the Netherlands. Of course, historically British teams have come to train in Spain in winter, especially Almería, Cartagena and Jerez, with milder climates than those they have at home. What's more, even in 2023 the BSB collective tests were held at the Navarra Circuit.
This is confirmation that the Navarra Circuit is prepared for a new stage after its privatization, and it will also be a good opportunity to see part of the reform that has been launched, with the intention of updating certain parts of the layout. and give greater emotion to others.
