Just a week ago, the news of the restrictions on the combustion motorcycle prepared by the Catalan town hall, as part of the 2025-2030 electric vehicle, recently presented. Obviously, after hearing the statements of Jose María Riaño, general secretary of Anesdor, we echoed this initiative that could end up de facto with almost 1.2 million combustion motorcycles in just five years:
“From Anesdor we positively value the impulse plan to the electric vehicle in general, but include the measure of restricting all combustion motorcycles, discriminating them with respect to other vehicles, it is simply unacceptable.”
Concluded: “The combustion motorcycle is not the enemy of sustainable mobility, but part of the solution next to the electric motorcycle. The Government of the Generalitat should explain to these users why he wants to restrict the use of their motorcycles, but does not propose to do the same with the cars. ”
There will be no restrictions on combustion motorcycle in Catalonia
Shortly after the news about the restrictions on the combustion motorcycle in Catalonia, the government team denied that within its aforementioned mobility plan would shuffle this possibility. After contacts and meetings held between the Generalitat and Anesdor, it seems that the misunderstanding has been clarified.
The Catalan government in no case intends to promote combustion motorcycle restrictions. Therefore, Asdor supports the impulse plan to the electric vehicle without reservations. In the case of the motorcycle, in addition to promoting the progressive electrification of urban motorcycles, it will be necessary They allow so many benefits.
The motorcycle has a strong tradition and roots in society and in the Catalan industry and, in the current context of transformation of mobility, Catalonia can lead evolution towards sustainable motorcycling. The motorcycle industry represented in Anesdor will work with the Generalitat to achieve this goal.
José María Riaño, general secretary of Anesdor: “We are glad to verify that everything has been a misunderstanding, and that the Generalitat de Catalunya does not intend to restrict the combustion motorcycle, simply to decide the electric motorcycle, especially in the urban field. We absolutely share this goal and work decidedly to achieve it. ”
