The CEO of Zero Motorcycles, Sam Paschelhas revealed the ambitious plans of the Californian company specialized in electric motorcycles. The electric two-wheeled vehicle firm plans to launch six new models in the next two years, all with a price below the 10,000 euros.
As we told you at the time, the first step of this plan was taken in November 2024, during the fair EICMA in Milan, where they presented two light off-road models approved for the road and developed in collaboration with the Chinese company Zongshen: he XB and the XE.
In addition, a prototype called Neutrinoan urban motorcycle inspired by the popular Honda MSX125 Gromwhose price is close to 4,000 euros.
What do you think of CEO of Zero?
Pascheldeclared: “We have accumulated 18 years of experience and more than 290 million km traveled with our products. Our goal was never to limit ourselves to the premium segment, but once the technology had been perfected, we wanted to apply it to medium and low-power vehicles to make them more accessible..”
Of course, this approach represents a strategic change for Zerowhich until now had focused on the development of premium motorcycles, such as the MR. With the new launches, the brand seeks to attract a broader audience, including those interested in electric vehicles but reluctant to invest large sums of money in this technology.emergent”.
Paschelcontinued: “In the next two years we will launch six new platforms with prices below 10,000 euros. Now is the time to leverage our experience, distribution, service and technology to reach a broader audience.”
“The premium segment has performed well, but it is not enough to drive mass adoption. “The market for motorcycles above 20,000 euros represents a small fraction of the total, and that was never our ultimate goal,” admitted Paschel. “We must focus on segments where electric adoption is gaining traction.”
However, and as is obvious, Zero Motorcycleslike other brands of high-capacity electric vehicles, faces challenges in the Spanish market. In fact, the adoption of battery technology has been slowed by factors such as high electricity costs, charging times and range limitations.
8For example, in the UK, according to data from the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA), between January and November 2024, 3,531 electric motorcycles were registered, compared to 101,662 units with internal combustion engines.
Zero Motorcycles backs its plans with a solid financial position. According to Paschelthe company has secured $100 million of a $120 million funding round and expects to close the remaining $20 million soon. “These investments guarantee the future of Zero Motorcycles,” concluded the CEO.
