The first modern Ducati enduro now has a price: this is the Desmo450 EDS 2026

The new Desmo450 EDS It is much more than a first within the ranks of the Italian firm: It is Ducati’s first modern enduro bike. A motorcycle born from a clear vision, which speaks of passion, technology and competition. A vision that, with the Desmo450 EDS, is transferred to the trails and mountain roads where this discipline was born.

An environment in which the challenges are unpredictable, the terrain is constantly changing and every meter must be conquered. Enduro is a unique discipline, requiring resistance, control and versatility. Therefore, it must be faced with a motorcycle designed specifically for this sport.

Ducati Desmo450 EDS 2026

Ducati engineers have started from the technical base of the Desmo450 MX, modifying and developing solutions and components to create this Desmo450 EDS. The new 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, equipped with Metzeler Six Days Extreme tires, offer stability, traction and precision on any surface.

Its aluminum perimeter chassis It weighs less than 9 kg and is made up of only 11 pieces. It has been perfected by redesigning the engine mounts to achieve the right rigidity for enduro. The chassis design results in a lightweight structure that allows the engine to have intake and exhaust ducts that are as straight as possible for maximum performance.

For the suspensions, Ducati confirms its collaboration with Showa by mounting a 49 mm inverted front fork and a travel of 310 mm, as well as softer springs than those mounted on the Desmo450 MX. Behind we find a shock absorber, mounted on a progressive arm that provides us with the necessary traction and stability during acceleration.

Regarding the braking system, the Italian brand has once again chosen to collaborate with Brembo: the front has a two-piston floating caliper, while the rear has a single-piston caliper. The Galfer brake discs measure 260 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear; The pads have been specifically designed with the modulation requirements of enduro riding in mind.

In the mechanical section, the Desmo450 EDS engine is derived from the Cross MX and has been the subject of an exhaustive redesign to enhance its most important characteristic for enduro driving: a power delivery that contributes to improving traction and rider control, while providing the acceleration necessary to overcome the most demanding obstacles with a single gear.

The desmodromic distribution system contributes fundamentally to this objective: it allows the engine to have a very powerful torque curve at low and medium revolutions, while being able to reach very high revolutions. Competition riders can purchase and install the Ducati Performance racing kit at an authorized workshop.

In the base model, the addition of a 42 mm throttle body stands out – instead of 44 mm -, specific camshafts, a piston with a lower compression ratio, a specifically designed exhaust and a connecting rod assembly with greater inertia, especially in the crankshaft and flywheel. The engine is more effectively protected against impacts with obstacles typical of enduro riding.

This is thanks to having aluminum valve, ignition and clutch covers, which are more robust than the magnesium ones used on the 450 MX. The clutch requires less effort than on cross-country bikes, to reduce rider fatigue, and the gearbox has six gears, with specific ratios for enduro riding.

Specifically, first gear is shorter to improve acceleration and control on more technical stretches, while sixth gear is longer for greater efficiency during long driving sessions. The middle gears are spaced differently than on the motocross bike to maximize torque even in the slowest corners and better adapt to different enduro situations.

The cooling system, revised with respect to the MX model, retains the rhomboidal radiators, which offer 6.5% larger radiation surface compared to a traditional solutionwhich improves engine cooling while maintaining a compact design. The integrated electric fan ensures continuous cooling even at low speeds, such as on the most demanding circuits, thus improving reliability and constant performance even in the most extreme enduro situations.

By incorporating the Ducati Performance competition kitthe Desmo450 EDS features a true traction control system, introduced on the 450 MX and calibrated specifically for enduro use. Unlike systems currently available in the field of specialized off-road motorcycling, the Ducati Traction Control (DTC) Calibrates power reduction based on actual rear wheel slip and offers four different levels of intervention.

The electronic package offered by the competition kit includes launch control and engine brake control, which, like the DTC, can be configured with different levels of intervention and associated with two driving modes that drivers can adapt to their needs and the characteristics of the circuit through the X-Link appwhich connects to the motorcycle via a Wi-Fi module. The gearbox is equipped with a Quickshifter.

Finally we must mention the maintenance of the Desmo450 EDS. This has two types of intervention, called “MID” and “FULL”. The MID service includes replacing pistons and checking valve clearance, and can be performed every 90 to 120 hours, depending on actual engine wear. The FULL service, which includes a complete engine check, can be performed approximately every 180 to 240 hours, also depending on the conditions and the wear detected.

Range of accessories Ducati Desmo450 EDS 2026

Thanks to the Ducati Performance catalogue, the performance of the Ducati Desmo450 EDS can be further improved. Special components on offer include factory parts machined from a solid block, such as wheel hubs and triple posts, as well as a full exhaust system or a titanium Akrapovič muffler and Brembo Racing brake calipers. The list of available accessories will be progressively expanded.

To complete the Factory look, the Ducati Performance catalog offers a complete technical collection created in collaboration with Drudi Performance. The offer includes a set of Alpinestars t-shirt, pants, gloves and boots, an Arai helmet, a windproof vest, a softshell jacket and a Spidi waterproof jacket.
