The KTM crisis claims a new victim: Jeremy McWilliams

The Belfast Pilot Jeremy McWilliamsand KTM, announce the end of their collaboration after more than 15 years as a test rider for the Austrian firm. The reason at this point is almost all of us crystal clear: The financial crisis that is plaguing the Mattighofen brand.

If you are one of those who have not yet found out what is happening within KTM, we advise you to take a look at some of the news where we have recently discussed the topic:

Jeremy McWilliams: 60 years of pure talent

It was no coincidence that KTM acquired the services of Jeremy McWilliams back in 2010. The Irishman had competed in 181 GPs in the World Speed Championship, managing to achieve a single victory, six podiums and three pole positions. Perhaps his biggest problem within the difficulty of playing in a World Cup was debuting too late. Specifically at 29 years old and directly joining the grid of the old premier category.

For 4 seasons he rode a Yamaha V4 and later decided to go down to 250 cc. There he began his career with Honda and this helped him sign with Aprilia and return to the 500 cc, managing to make two podiums in the Italian and British GPs. He returned the following season at two and a half and there he took the only victory he has to his credit, achieved at the legendary Assen track.

The KTM crisis claims a new victim: Jeremy McWilliams

Back to the honor division, as detailed on the MotoGP website: “Recruited by Kenny Roberts to ride the Proton KR in the 2002 MotoGP World Championship, he was able to take pole position at Phillip Island. He put all his efforts into developing the V5 in 2003, without achieving very satisfactory results. In 2004 he returned to Aprilia to compete in his last full season to date, teaming up with rookie Shane Byrne and in 2005 he raced as a wild card in Brno, driving Team Roberts’ Proton KR.”

Now he will continue dedicated to the work he does within the prestigious Moto America where, with Indian, he competes in the King of The Baggers and Superhooligan categories. It is clear that Jeremy McWilliams still has a lot of gas left to give and we can only wish him the best in the future.
