It has been exactly five years since rumors began to circulate about the arrival of a possible CB1000GT to the Honda range. At that time, the possibility was being considered that it would end up being commercially called CB1000X, an acronym that lasted with the passage of time and the continuous information about the expected model.
However, in 2024 Honda officially presented its new generation CB1000 Hornet and to the dismay of many there was no trace of the expected tourer version of the model. Even just a few weeks ago, the CB1000F 2026 was finally launched on the market, in standard and SE versions, so everything suggested that EICMA 2025 could be the time and place to unveil the third option in this saga in the form of a GT variant.
Honda CB1000GT 2026: What we know about the model
Following the latest information leaked by the international press, it is almost a fact that Honda will unveil its new CB1000GT at this year’s Milan Motor Show. Another very different thing is when its marketing will start, something that we will clear up doubts about in the coming weeks. This confirmation comes after the approval of the model by the Japanese firm before the Australian authorities.
Along with the documentation presented detailing the basic aspects of the new CB1000GT, Honda has also provided a couple of images of its new mount where it gives us a glimpse of what we can expect from it.
Gross In this way, we are facing a sport-touring evolution of the well-known CB1000 Hornet, where the brand has made small technical changes in its cycle part oriented towards this segment, in addition to adding specific equipment.
Some of the official data that we already know about the future CB1000GT are directly related to its dimensions and mechanical section. In this context, Honda declares a wheelbase of 1,465mmwith a maximum suspension travel of over 150 mm. Curb weight is expected to be around 220 kilosincluding the approximately 20 liters of fuel that it can hold in its tank.
The engine is the same as its range sisters, from the CBR1000RR Fireblade. This 1,000 cc in-line four-cylinder DOHC engine declares in the CB1000GT a final power of 150 hp at 11,000 rpm. On the contrary, the maximum torque emitted is not yet known. What is confirmed is that the model will have a six-speed quick-change system within the equipment offered by the brand.
In this sense, based on the first images shown, we can see how this CB1000GT will include a good-sized front wraparound fairing, with an adjustable front screen. This extends to embrace the contours of the tank and shows its sportier side in the front part of it, where its shapes end in a sharp way.
Other notable aspects in terms of the equipment section are the radiator protective cover, the handguards and the center stand. The 17″ cast aluminum alloy wheels come shod with tires measuring 120/70 and 180/55, front and rear respectively. The CB1000GT is also expected to include a good technological compendium, including, among others, a TFT panel with full-color connectivity or cruise control.
Of course, a wide range of options should not be missing with which to enhance the touring qualities of the model, including a complete suitcase kit, heated seat and grips, electronically adjustable suspensions, etc. All this remains to be seen, probably, in the imminent edition of EICMA 2025, where the brand could make the model known internationally.
