To talk about Ducati Superleggera is to talk about one of the highest standards on which the prestige of the Italian brand has been built in recent years. Both the 1199 and the later 1299 are motorcycles made by and for the enjoyment of sportier riding. But not only that, they also have an arsenal of “black foot” elements that turn them into true two-wheeled delicacies.
Now, thanks to the colleagues at Visor Down we have been informed of the next auction to be carried out by the specialized website Iconic Auctioneers, which will include Ducati Superleggera versions 1199 and 1299 respectively. Furthermore, both are owned by a well-known British chef, Paul Hollywoodjudge on “The Great British Bake Off”. Apparently the guy is a self-confessed lover of sports motorcycles, and has a large collection that includes these two Ducati Superleggeras.
Two practically brand new Ducati Superleggeras
Taking a look at the description of the Ducati Superleggera that will be auctioned on next November 10we first find the 1199 version, a motorcycle with 200 HP of power and 155 kg of weight, which is the closest thing to an SBK with a license plate that was marketed in the year it was launched on the market. To do this, the Italian brand used exclusive various materials such as titanium, carbon, magnesium and tungsten in its manufacturing.
Sticking to the unit that is for sale, we are faced with the copy 292 of 500 manufacturedassociated with VIN ZDMH806AAEB021431 and with barely 3,000 miles traveled since it left the brand’s official dealer in 2014. The motorcycle includes, among others: Service history sealed with Winchester Ducati with last service at 2,579 miles, owner’s manual, maintenance book service, some invoices, old MOT and spare key. Also an original parts box included with mirror mounts, tool kit, new battery and screen as pictured.
If we talk about the Ducati 1299 Superleggera we could say, in summary, that we are facing a logical evolution of the 1199 variant, keeping the model’s philosophy intact and improving, if possible, the power and performance figures. We are talking about a Ducati with a carbon chassis, an engine derived directly from the one used in SBK with 215 hp, and all the technology you can imagine.
In the case of the 1299 Superleggera owned by Paul Hollywood, we are faced with the unit 85 of the 500 manufacturedassociated with VIN ZDMHC00AAHB000080 and with barely 2,000 miles traveled. The listing description specifies that this example comes with a storage box with parts, including exhaust parts, tools, cover and new battery, as well as the owner’s manual, service book and spare key.
Now comes the part where one stops dreaming and returns with a smack to harsh reality. For the 1199 Superleggera, a final price is expected to be raised around 45,000 euroswhile for its vitaminized sister, the 1299, the figure rises to 52,000 euros approximately.
