Although it is difficult to find motorcycles with 2 -stroke engines in the concessionaires, beyond some cyclomotor or some enduro motorcycles, once the kings were for their simplicity. A simplicity that, at the same time, made two -stroke engines fun and that today, there is an incalculable number of passionate about such mechanics.
But the problem these two -stroke engines had is that this simplicity carried another series of problems. And due to its operation, that you can see more carefully here, and simplifying its own configuration, it makes the fuel and the oil mixture completely burn, and part of these are lost without burning.
That means that two -stroke engines are not as efficient as those of four and that they are also more polluting. To all this we must add that, by their own Constitution, they required more maintenance and were more likely to suffer breakdowns due to failures in lubrication.
The two -stroke engine can live a new era
But this problem could have been solved and give a new life to the two-stroke engines thanks to Alpha-Olto, a company that seeks to solve the problems and that has introduced a small change in the engine that can change everything.
They introduce a rotary valve behind the exhaust port, this makes the transfer port and act in that sense as a four -stroke engine is necessary. The valve opens at the right time to release the gases, then the air enters compressed by a compressor that pushes the residual gases, and just before the exhaust valve enters the fuel. All this, logically at a devilish pace while the piston is going down.
When the piston goes up, the mixture is found in the cylinder, compress it and the spark plug begins again. Thanks to this, engine behavior does not vary (in theory) and is gained in durability and efficiency. The entire system is electronically controlled, making real -time settings.
To finish off this two-stroke, which in Alpha-Oott has called Revforce, it can also work and alternating on the march with compressed natural gas, hydrogen and non-diesel biofuels. Of course, the sound has nothing to do with what you would expect in a two -stroke engine …
Will we see the resurgence of the 2T or will it continue to be a technology for the most romantic?
