Vespa looks towards 2025 with its new GTS 310 as the brand’s flagship

Vespa has recently presented, at the 110th edition of EICMA 2024, its new GTS 310, a model that will become the de facto flagship of the brand. Furthermore, this is the most powerful and responsive Vespa ever manufactured in the brand’s almost eighty-year history.

Using the latest generation 278 cc liquid-cooled engine as a base, this unit represents a significant development, with more than 70% new components, new dimensions and, as a result, new and improved performance.

The stroke of this single-cylinder engine has increased from 63 mm to just over 70 mm, increasing displacement from 278 to 310 cc and power to 25 HP. It has also increased engine torque and, thanks to the longer stroke, offers a more flexible ride. The technical and stylistic characteristics, which had been completely renovated a short time ago, remain unchanged.

Among other components, the powertrain incorporates new injectors, a tilted cylinder, a new starting system and a crankcase design that significantly reduces mechanical and drive belt noise. The new engine meets Euro 5+ regulations, and is not only more powerful, but also more efficient, further reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

As has been the case throughout Vespa’s history, the all-steel body also acts as a chassis, supporting the weight of the centrally mounted motor unit and mechanical parts. The Vespa GTS 310 skillfully combines excellent maneuverability with reassuring stability, thanks in part to the generously sized tires mounted on the 12-inch rims and the disc brake system on both wheels.

In addition, it is equipped with an advanced ASR system, the electronic traction control function that prevents the rear wheels from spinning. The electronic safety controls package is completed by the ABS anti-lock braking system; both are included as standard on the entire Vespa GTS 310 family. The VESPA MIA connectivity system (which comes as standard on the GTS Supersport and is available as an accessory on the entire GTS family) and the Vespa app connect iOS or Android mobile devices via Bluetooth to the Vespa on-board system.

The elegant handlebar incorporates the characteristic round full-LED headlight, while the controls are grouped in two chrome control units. The overall clean feel of the styling continues behind the rear shield, where the keyless knob replaces the traditional ignition switch and the black surface of the dashboard merges into a single element that integrates the bag hook at its center. At the rear of the motorcycle, the light cluster features LED turn indicators and a taillight that creates a distinctive square light profile.

The Vespa GTS 310 is equipped with a seat that offers a higher level of comfort and the driver benefits from optimized ergonomics, making it easier to place the feet on the ground; For its part, the passenger seat is spacious and welcoming. The compartment in the back shield increases the carrying capacity of the Vespa GTS 310: inside there is a USB port, to recharge a mobile phone or other electronic devices.
