He sidecar SB1which was presented Watsonian Squire at the Motorcycle Live show recently, comes to market at a very competitive price. In fact, it costs only 9,500 eurosalthough the British firm currently has a limited-time offer that reduces that price by 600 euros. That is, they offer a quality sidecar at a knockdown price.
Ben Matthewsexecutive director of Watsonian Squireexplains the concept behind his new product: «In the 1980s, Squire produced hundreds of sidecars for budget motorcycle importers Jawa and MZ. This created sidecars an affordable option for thousands of motorcyclists. In fact, we still receive inquiries from customers looking to purchase a complete ready-to-wear set, which is why we decided to create a modern equivalent under the Squire brand, to differentiate it from our Watsonian range”.
This is Watsonian’s Benelli sidecar
In order to keep the overall package at an affordable price, Watsonian chose to use a Benelli Imperiale 400 to power the set, which, by the way, costs only 4,430 euros as standard. However, the house claims that the 374 cc air-cooled engine is perfectly capable of supporting the additional weight of the sidecar. That is why they chose this motorcycle of Italian origin as a base.
The sidecar itself features a tubular steel chassis, rubber torsion suspension, and a 10-inch steel wheel. All encased in a body built from GRP fiberglass, with a GRP wind deflector in place of a full windshield.
As it could not be otherwise, the chassis is pre-adjusted for convergence, inclination and advance of axles in the Benelliwhich means that the owner can disassemble and reassemble it by following the basic instructions supplied with the equipment. That is, it is removable according to demand.
