What if the Ford Fiesta came back to life as an electric car?

There have been few farewells harder than that of Ford Fiesta. The legendary utility vehicle from the oval stopped production last year after almost half a century of life and seven generations behind it. Although it had been on sale since 1976 and had managed to sell 22 million units, that did not save it from the fire caused by the SUVs. However, there is now speculation about its back to life converted into electric judging by the latest rumours.

The American firm is very focused on its growing crossover range and also in electrificationBoth variables converge in some recent models such as the Explorer or the Capri, while an electric variant of the Ford Puma will also arrive. In the medium term they want to expand the family and are developing the Skunkworks platformwhich is for electric powertrains and could unlock some more affordable models like this future spiritual successor to the Fiesta.

In the last times There has been a lot of talk about affordable electric that can break some barriers such as the 25,000 euro barrier. Ford has always been a generalist firm that until now had been in the fight for that cheap car. However, the latest launches are more focused on a higher level, both in size and price, something they want to change in the future. The new architecture would be the solution for cost reduction and bring to life the next generation of the Puma and other models.

However, we will have to wait. The first model with this platform will arrive first in the United States, with a launch date between late 2026 and early 2027. It will most likely use lower-cost lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, like the new Explorer. There are also questions about the use of the Ford Fiesta name on the model. It would make sense following the brand’s trend of maintain or recover mythical denominationsIn any case, we will have to wait and see what happens.
