The MotoGP World Championship may have gone on vacation when it was most interesting, but the British GP puts an end to the vacation period and begins a second half of the season that promises to be intense. And it will be intense not only because of the number of GPs scheduled but also because of everything that is at stake and the tightness of the provisional classification.
And Jorge Martín arrives at Silvestone as leader after the first 11 GPs of the season with another 11 left if the one from Qatar does not end up being suspended with a total of 14 points ahead of the revelation of the season: Ai Ogura. The Japanese driver continues to add points without making much noise and lands at the British GP with real options to take the lead.
Of course, both Martín and he fight with the same weapons and that will even the fight. With whom the fight will not be the same will be with Marc Márquez and the Ducati rider is surely one of those who has benefited best from this break to finish recovering physically. The same thing happens to Marco Bezzecchi who in just a few GPs lost his solid leadership to now be 22 points behind Martín in fourth position.
But the fight for the lead does not end there because Fabio Di Giannantonio, fifth, is 24 points away, so mathematically any of the five mentioned could leave Silverstone with the first position in the standings. But that does not mean that the fight for the title and the first three positions ends with Fabio, because Raúl Fernández is not far away.
Further back is Pedro Acosta, who had no luck in Germany but will arrive at Silverstone in top form and looking for a podium that has eluded him for too long. Pecco Bagnaia and Álex Márquez will also seek to leave their mark. We are talking, therefore, about at least nine drivers who could fight on paper for victory and the podium under normal conditions, an obvious sign of the point at which the championship is.
