He GP R3 track represents the most important evolution of the family GP track since its launch in 2011. The new helmet has been developed together with the pilots of AGV in MotoGP and is designed to meet the requirements of the new approval FIM FRHPhe-02. Its premiere took place during the San Marino and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix 2026, where the official drivers of AGV They started using it since the training sessions in Misano.
The main novelty is found in the system AGV Spheradeveloped together with technology RLS (Release Layer System). Its objective is to reduce the rotational forces that can appear when the helmet hits the asphalt obliquely. The system uses an outer shell separated from the main structure by hundreds of microspheres. In the event of an impact, this layer is designed to shift and detach in a controlled manner, dissipating some of the energy before it is transmitted to the head.
AGV claims that tests conducted with the system have shown a 6-fold reduction in concussion risk versus a configuration without Sphere. Be careful, this is a result obtained in specific tests and not a guarantee applicable to any real accident.

This is the Pista GP R3
The new flagship of AGV maintains a shell completely made of carbon fiber and, despite the new technologies and modifications introduced, AGV ensures that its weight does not exceed that of its predecessor. The aerodynamics have also been revised with wind tunnel testing and circuit validation. The rear wing changes design to improve stability and reduce lateral forces when the driver turns his head during cornering.
The ventilation system incorporates new air inlets and outlets designed to improve internal circulation and evacuate heat more quickly. The interior has also been redesigned to offer a more ergonomic fit. The screen maintains one of the great arguments of the GP track: “an especially wide field of vision“. In this new generation it can reach 5 mm in thickness and has an opening mechanism with greater retention force to reduce the risk of accidental opening during an impact.

AGV Pista GP R3: for now, protagonist on the circuits
The AGV Pista GP R3 debuts as a competition prototype with the brand’s drivers in MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3. Its arrival at Misano represents the first step of a new generation of helmets in which the management of oblique impacts and rotational forces takes on an increasingly important role. AGV It has not yet communicated all the details related to the marketing of the version intended for the general public, so we will have to wait to find out its price and availability in Piel de Toro.
Angel SanchezCEO of the Dainese Group, stated: “We are proud to once again bring a revolution to the world of motorcycling, radically increasing the safety of our riders, our mission and our priority in every product. We are confident that this innovation will raise the bar even higher for everyone, as with all previous versions of the Pista. To achieve this extraordinary result, we worked closely with RLS, an innovative and leading British startup that, like us, is totally dedicated to human safety in dynamic environments. With the AGV Sphera system, developed in collaboration with RLS, we are proud to be the first to bring this revolutionary technology to a motorcycle helmet.”.

Luca MariniHonda HRC Team – MotoGP: “The helmet is the most important element of all our equipment. Continuing to innovate in this area is a great challenge. Each evolution of the AGV Pista GP has been a leap forward in terms of performance and has improved safety for us motorcyclists. But with this PISTA GP R3, the leap forward is enormous, in every sense. “We have especially focused on protection against rotational forces during impact, on ventilation – which is very important, especially for us MotoGP riders – and on aerodynamics, especially when changing direction.”.
And, he continues: «I am very happy with what we have developed and I am looking forward to seeing it reach the general public. When I first saw testing of the new Sphera AGV system, I was amazed; It seemed simply magical to me. This technology will make a difference in what matters most: our safety as pilots..”

Marco BezzecchiAprilia Racing Team, stated: “This helmet is even more brilliant and special to me because it is the first one I have worked on since the beginning of the development process; I feel even more connected to him. The Pista GP R3 is very eye-catching – it really stands out in terms of style. It has a super aggressive high-tech design that is very aerodynamic, but every detail is beautiful precisely because it is extremely functional. The introduction of the new Sphera system with RLS technology represents a truly significant advance in safety. Knowing that you are so well protected literally takes a worry off your shoulders. And for those of us who practice a sport as beautiful and dangerous as motorcycle racing, it is essential that we can focus on the essentials when traveling at 360 km/h. What happens on the track, the line, the opponents, the next corner. Feeling confident really helps you perform at your best.”.
And he ended by saying: «This helmet has always been a reference; The first time you put it on, you will be surprised by its wide field of vision and how light it is. On the GP R3 track, we also put a lot into it. They made improvements to the ventilation, which was already excellent, but now, personally, I think it’s perfect. The first time I saw Valentino with a Pista GP, I fell in love with it. His helmet was unique; everyone else imitated him. As soon as I had mine, I was filled with pride.«.

Finally, Franco MorbidelliVR46 Racing Team, has said about the new Clue: “This R3 represents an important update to the Pista GP, improving it in every way. Over the years, while working on helmets as well as overalls, gloves and boots, we have developed products that have led to significant improvements and advancements with each new model. But with the Pista GP R3, the leap forward is incredible. Among the innovations of this helmet, safety is the most important; With this new technology, we reach levels never seen before, something fundamental for us«.
And, he concluded: «The Pista has always been a unique helmet, distinguished by its design, lightness, aerodynamic performance and unobstructed field of vision. It is an icon, and it is always a challenge for designers to work on such an emblematic and distinctive product. The AGV team has done an incredible job. Still the same helmet, but even more aggressive and competition-oriented: the Pista GP R3 is truly incredible.”
