Yamaha’s iconic 70th anniversary in competition

There are few colors, within the world of two wheels, as distinctive as those that commemorate the 70 years of history of Yamaha. That is why the British team Rev2Race That currently participates in the Pirelli Sportbike National Championship, they decided to recently decorate the Yamaha R7 with which they dispute this competition with a special library inspired by the design that once color the forms of the iconic YZF-R7 OW-02 of the late 1990s.

As the Official Yamaha team of MotoGP already did in the last GP of the Netherlands 2025, the Rev2Race also wanted to contribute its grain of sand to such a date indicated within the history of the Japanese brand. An initiative they made known in the test played in the Thruxton circuit, just a few days ago, and where its Yamaha R7 became the center of all eyes.

This R7 of the Rev2Race was the idea of the owner of the team, Kev Stephensonafter knowing the commemorative library that a few months before had exhibited the official MotoGP team on the occasion of the GP of the lower countries. As he comments “It was something I did on my own. I saw MotoGP motorcycles and worked with the Virgin Yamaha team when the original R7 came out, so I have a long relationship with the motorcycle.”

The decoration was carried out by Lee CostelloExpileot of the British Superbike Championship (BSB), in LC Customs. The design, as was the case with the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP motorcycle, wears the corporate colors of the brand, red and white, and commemorate the 70 years since Iwata’s firm launched its first model in 1955, the Ya-1 of 2 times and 125 cc.

Stephenson Comet: “About a month ago we decided to do it. They loved everyone and had a great reception on social networks”. Regarding this championship integrated into the BSB, this is the second season that is played and as explained by the Rev2Race “It is a class that is booming all the time.” Likewise, with respect to the technical changes that the motorcycles that participate in this competition have, they add: “We change the front beijas, the rear blade and we have to use an individual electronic system.”

It is also allowed to make some mechanical modifications, including “Camshaft, valve springs and pistons, all located under a standard butt, raising the power to about 97 hp”confirm from MCN.
