80 years of the Piaggio Ape: from icon to legend

The iconic Piaggio Ape He turns no less than 80 years old in 2026. And what better than the Ape Club of Italy to prepare the party he deserves with all those followers and lovers of the model. For this they have organized next April 18 and 19 the event EuroApe which will be held in the picturesque town of Vallebona.

The organizers themselves have described it as “a moment to share and discover, and an opportunity to experience Vallebona and its region in an authentic way. A weekend of meetings, coexistence, tradition and passion, where each participant will bring a different story, but everyone will speak the same language: that of the community.”

EuroApe 2026 and long life to the Piaggio Ape

Last 2024, the Italians ended the year with sad news: Goodbye to the Piaggio Ape in Italy: an Italian icon moves to India after 76 years of history. As Nico Cereghini, Italian motorcycle racer and journalist, argued after learning of the brand’s decision: “The Ape will disappear in a world that may be more breathable, perhaps. But much less colorful.”

This fact has not prevented the Piaggio Ape from continuing to be an institution in the different regions that make up the transalpine country. The well-known Ape Club of Italy is partly responsible for this and this year, in addition to celebrating the 80th anniversary of the iconic tricycle, they also do the same with a very special date: its 20 years of life. So in order to give free rein to their unconditional love for the nice Piaggio model, they have organized EuroApe 2026.

The Piaggio Ape is celebrating its anniversary: the Italian myth turns 80

From Friday, April 17 to Sunday, April 19, participants will be able to enjoy an extensive and elaborate program of activities with their Piaggio Ape, ranging from a guided tour of the historic center of Vallebona, through a press conference and opening of the exhibition “20 years of the Ape Club d’Italia” and ending with a panoramic parade through the streets of the Riviera dei Fiori with photo stops.

Of course there will be different dinners and lunches where participants will enjoy local cuisine and meet other Piaggio Ape enthusiasts from different parts of the world. In short, in the words of the organization itself, we are facing “a birthday that marks an era, made of slow travels, laborious hands and stories that remind us of mixtures.”
