Fire at the Honda facilities in Santa Perpètua: all workers are fine

The fire that occurred this Friday at the Honda Motor Europe Logistics Spain facilities, located within the Montesa Honda complex in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Barcelona, has focused the attention of the motorcycle sector during the afternoon. The most important information, and the only one officially confirmed by the company at this time, is that all workers are well and that no personal injuries have occurred.

According to the communication provided by Honda, the fire would have started at approximately 3:00 p.m. on June 5 at the logistics facilities that the brand maintains in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda. The company has explained that emergency procedures were activated “quickly and efficiently“, which allowed the situation to be managed without any injuries. In this type of incidents, especially when they affect industrial or logistics facilities, the absolute priority is always the safety of people.

For now, Honda has not offered a specific assessment of the material damage. The company itself has indicated that it is still evaluating the extent of the damage, so any estimate on the impact on the facilities, stored material, logistics activity or future operations would be premature. There is also, at the time of writing this information, no official confirmation on the exact origin of the fire.

The Montesa Honda facilities in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda have symbolic and operational weight within the recent history of the brand in Spain. Although Honda left behind the stage of large motorcycle production in our country years ago, the Barcelona enclave continues to be linked to the company’s activity and the legacy of Montesa, one of the most important brands in Spanish motorcycling. Precisely for this reason, any incident in this complex takes on a special dimension among fans, professionals in the sector and workers related to the industry.

Honda has thanked the support and understanding received after the event. The company will continue to evaluate material damage before offering a more precise assessment. Until then, any conclusions about the true extent of the fire must be put on hold.
