Pagani Utopia Roadster: 130 units of pure art on wheels

The launch of the Pagani Utopia marked a change of era within the Italian firm. It confirmed a pure line of succession for the previous Huayra by keeping the V12 engine without electrification and with the possibility of manual format, aspects that we can hardly find in the automotive sector anymore. However, that was not all, as they kept under their arm the most passionate variant of the model. Now comes the Pagani Utopia Roadster to continue the tradition of convertibles.

While in its predecessors the roofless variant was an adaptation of the coupé, in this case it is a development that was done in parallel. This means that it is a model as Light, dynamic and high performance like its closed-top brother. It maintains the butterfly-opening doors and is distinguished by that retractable hardtop which can be placed on a stand or by a canvas hood that could be placed directly in the trunk.

The configuration of the Pagani Utopia Roadster is also specific. It boasts details such as the floor mats or the key itself, which are more elaborate. The same goes for the upholstery, which can be configured to the customer’s taste. It comes with two matching suitcases with leather-covered carbon interior shells that can be matched to the colour of the car. In addition, the manual gearbox knob The seven-speed automatic is a marvel of ultra-modern design and the flywheel is made from a single metal block and weighs just 1.6 kg.

Because everything in this model seeks maximum performance and the lowest possible weight. Its carbon fiber monocoque (with materials such as Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62) allows it to have a weight of 1,280 kgexactly the same as the coupe variant and an absolute feat. Its shapes have been worked on to offer low coefficient of aerodynamic drag. The load level is also high, even without resorting to protruding appendages. In this section there are not many differences compared to its brother.

What they have also maintained is the mechanics 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 which is of Mercedes-AMG origin and remains unelectrified. In this Utopia Roadster its power of 864 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque is maintained, a significant figure considering its low weight. It can be linked to the manual gearbox or to an automated one signed by Xtrac. There is no mention of its acceleration, but its Maximum speed reaches up to 350 km/hh due to an electronic limitation. This can only be achieved with a special set-up.

We see some details such as the suspension triangles forged in aluminum alloy and an active damping system or the also forged wheels 21-inch front and 22-inch rear wheels, shod with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires. The truth is that this is a very exclusive vehicle, as only 130 units of the Pagani Utopia Roadster will be produced. Each one has a starting price of 3.1 million euros excluding taxes.
