Audi A3 Allstreet 40 TFSIe: the special body already has its special engine

After the new A3 Sportback TFSIe, the A3 allstreet 40 TFSIea plug-in hybrid A3 allstreet available for order from November, priced from €49,720.

This new version of the Audi A3 Allstreet, the version with a country look and a little more ground clearance of the A3, combines a 1.5 TFSI evo gasoline engine with 110 kW (150 HP) and 250 Nm of torque, assisted by an electric motor with 85 kW and 330 Nm of torque. The system power is 150 kW (204 hp) and a maximum torque of 350 Nm, like other compact cars from the Volkswagen group with which they share a platform.

The performance of the A3 allstreet 40 TFSIe is good, as it reaches a maximum speed of 225 km/h (up to 140 km/h in 100% electric mode)… but the best thing is the battery capacity of 25.7 kWh (19.7 kWh net), with which you obtain almost 140 km of autonomy according to the WLTP cycle. It supports alternating current loads of up to 11 kW (three-phase) and direct current loads of up to 50 kW (goes from 10 to 80% in less than 30 minutes). It includes a Mode 3 cable as standard and the charging service, Audi charging, which offers access to around 630,000 charging points in 29 European countries using a single card.

Management of the plug-in hybrid propulsion system offers three modes:

  • EV mode: moves in electric mode if battery is available.
  • Auto Hybrid: balances the use of the combustion engine (prioritized at high speeds) and the electric engine (at low speeds), often combining both.
  • hold: Conserves battery charge for later use, such as in low-emission areas.

The A3 allstreet TFSIe also offers steering wheel paddles (like those on the brand’s 100% electric models) to regulate the level of recovery. Otherwise, like other mechanics, it is 15 mm higher than an A3 Sportback and as the tires have a larger diameter it gains 30 mm of ground clearance. It has 17-inch wheels as standard and wheel arches

The brand indicates that the suspension adjustment (springs and shock absorbers) has been optimized to compensate for the weight of the lithium-ion battery, located under the floor in the rear seat area. The weight distribution is 55% on the front axle compared to 45% on the rear axle. An effort has been made to balance rolling comfort and dynamism and if you are looking for more agility, progressive steering is available with variable ratio depending on the steering angle.

A good part of the price is explained by more standard equipment than other versions of the allstreet, such as Audi drive select (which provides several driving modes), digital instrument panel and multimedia screen with specific displays and menus or auxiliary air conditioning, which Allows you to cool or preheat the cabin before a trip.
