BAIC EU5: the Chinese electric sedan that will soon arrive in Spain

Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation (BAIC) is one of the largest manufacturers in China, which, in turn, is one of the most important markets today. Despite this, the truth is that in Spain it is still not known at all, because here they barely have a presence. However, that is going to change very soon, since its landing is scheduled for the second quarter of the year. They will do it with him BAIC EU5an electric sedan that will be brought to our market through the Invicta Motor Group.

As we said, it is a D-segment saloon that has a length 4,650 mm, a width of 1,820 mm and a height of 1,510 mm; in addition to a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. The design is risky and serves to identify its origins. Especially in that ornate front, which stands out for its main headlights that go united by an LED strip horizontal. As if that were not enough, add some “C”-shaped daytime running lights at the bottom and part of the bumper is illuminated.

The shapes of its rear are also characteristic, with the well-marked third volume and slightly less marked optics than the front ones. Inside, the BAIC EU5 will also be recognizable by its design. Has a digital instrumentation and a touch screen in the center of the dashboard, although due to their aesthetics it seems that they are less advanced than in other rivals. Space is generous, even in the rear seats, and boasts a 430-liter trunk capacity.

Although more interesting is the only version that is announced at the moment. It is an electric motor with a 163 HP of power. It announces an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and they also announce that the lithium battery is signed by CATL. It has a capacity of 48.3 kWh and allows the EU5 to have a autonomy of up to 416 kilometers. However, this data must be taken with a grain of salt, since it is under the obsolete NEDC cycle and is surely lower with the current (and more demanding) WLTP.

But things will not stop there for the Chinese manufacturer. Later, at the end of the third quarter of the year, BAIC will introduce in Spain the X55 and X7. Both are SUVs that have 1.5-liter gasoline engines fully adapted to the needs of our market and will have truly complete equipment.
