Motorcycles are a vehicle that is rarely used as a military vehicle. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t creations like the Christini 450, a machine designed to perform in the military field.
In fact, the Christini 450 was created for the United States Army and, as history tells it, it has become part of its fleet. Now there is a unit that has been in service, which is from 2016 and is for sale. Although the curious thing is not only that this unit is for sale but that this fast-acting, production vehicle can even be purchased on demand with a cost ranging from 17,500 to 25,500 dollars. That is, from approximately 15,800 to 23,000 euros.
What does the Christini 450 have that makes it cost so much money?
It is curious that this bike is based on a Honda CRF450X, with which many parts are interchangeable, and a Chinese engine manufactured by Asia Wing, which is then assembled at Christini’s headquarters in Philadelphia. This does not seem like a reasonable justification, but there is more.
It turns out that these engines are simpler than the Honda’s and have lower compression and steel valves instead of titanium. This way, reliability is increased even if performance is reduced. After all, the goal is to ensure that you don’t get left stranded when the enemy is chasing you.
In fact, according to the company itself, its bike is used by the Navy Seals and Special Forces groups, so reliability is not to be underestimated. But there is more to it, and that is that the bike has 2×2 traction, meaning that the power does not only go to the rear wheel but it also has a system that makes the bike have traction at the front as well.
And if all this were not enough, there are a number of extra components that ultimately drive up the price. Protectors of all kinds, navigators, special filters, automatic and anti-stall clutch, navigation systems, extra lights… and almost anything else you can think of.
