The 2026 Honda NX500 represents the natural evolution of the well-known CB500X, a motorcycle that since its launch in 2013 has conquered thousands of motorcyclists thanks to its accessible nature, reliability and notable balance between urban, road and light track riding. In its renewal for the 26YM model, Honda’s medium-displacement trail bike reinforces its adventurous DNA with the arrival of advanced E-Clutch technology, inherited from the CBR650R and CB650R, in addition to new color combinations and more complete equipment.
Under the “Daily Crossover” concept, the 2026 NX500 combines the practicality of a daily use motorcycle with the ability to travel and tackle varied terrain, without giving up fun on the handlebars. Honda maintains its commitment to users of the A2 license, offering a balanced motorcycle, with noble behavior and with a level of finishes typical of higher displacements. The arrival of the E-Clutch reinforces that philosophy, providing greater comfort in urban traffic and more fluid driving both on the road and on dirt sections.
Honda NX500 2026 engine
The 471 cc parallel twin engine remains unchanged in its basic configuration, but retains the qualities that have made it one of Honda’s most appreciated engines: smoothness, low consumption and linear power delivery. With a maximum power of 35 kW (47 HP) at 8,500 rpm and a torque of 43 Nm at 6,500 rpm, this block remains fully compatible with the A2 license, offering lively response throughout the rev range.
It has an eight-valve DOHC cylinder head, liquid cooling and an architecture with the crankshaft set at 180°, equipped with a balance shaft to reduce vibrations. The PGM-FI injection has been revised in its electronic management to offer a more progressive response and improve acceleration at low and medium speeds. The exhaust system, with double outlet, provides a characteristic sound and a deeper tone at high speeds, reinforcing the sporty character of the set.
The engine acts as a supporting element of the chassis, contributing to structural rigidity and weight reduction. Its maintenance is simple and economical, a key factor in the philosophy of this multipurpose trail. It also has an assisted and slipper clutch, which softens the reductions and eliminates rebounds from the rear wheel during the most intense braking, guaranteeing greater control and safety.
Chassis, suspensions and brakes of the Honda NX500 2026
The main structure is made up of a 35 mm diameter diamond-type steel frame, with a carefully adjusted balance between rigidity and flexibility to offer excellent response on both asphalt and roads. With a total curb weight of 196 kg, the 2026 NX500 is three kilos lighter than its predecessor, which translates into greater agility and better maneuverability.
The suspension set is signed by Showa and incorporates a 41 mm SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston) inverted fork, with a specific setting to combine comfort and precision. At the rear, a monoshock with Pro-Link system and five-position preload adjustment guarantees stability and traction on any surface. The wheelbase is 1,445 mm, with a steering angle of 27.5° and a trail of 108 mm, providing balanced behavior between stability at high speed and ease in slow maneuvers.
The braking system is made up of two 296 mm front discs with double-piston Nissin calipers and a 240 mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper. The dual-channel ABS system offers precise dosing even on low-adhesion surfaces. The five-spoke alloy wheels reduce unsprung weight and are combined with mixed tires in sizes 110/80-R19 at the front and 160/60-R17 at the rear, optimized to offer grip both on the road and on light gravel tracks.
Technology and equipment of the Honda NX500 2026
The great novelty of the Honda NX500 2026 is the incorporation of the E-Clutch system, a technology developed by the brand itself that allows you to change gears without using the clutch lever, both during acceleration and reduction. The electronically managed system analyzes speed, engine rpm, pressure on the shift pedal and other parameters in real time to synchronize the clutch action automatically and precisely. This results in smoother and faster transitions than with a conventional quickshifter, improving comfort in the city and efficiency on the highway.
The E-Clutch maintains the possibility of operating the clutch manually at any time, and can be disconnected if the user wishes. In addition, it allows you to adjust the hardness of the shift pedal in three levels (Soft, Medium and Hard), adapting to the driving style of each driver. Its operation is especially useful in urban environments, where it eliminates the need to activate the clutch at each stop or start, and in trail driving, where it facilitates control on irregular surfaces.
The rest of the electronic equipment includes the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system, which manages traction by comparing the speeds of both wheels to reduce slippage. It also has full LED lighting, turn signals with emergency stop function (ESS) and automatic cancellation system.
The instrument panel is a 5-inch color TFT screen, with “optical bonding” technology that improves visibility under direct sunlight. This panel, inherited from the XL750 Transalp, allows you to connect your smartphone using the Honda RoadSync application to access turn-by-turn navigation, calls, music and messages through voice control. The interface is operated via a convenient four-way backlit switch located on the left handlebar.
Ergonomics remains one of the keys to the NX500 2026: the seat, 830 mm from the ground, has a narrow profile to facilitate access to the ground, while the tapered steel handlebar and 17.5 liter tank provide a comfortable and natural posture. With an average consumption of 3.6 L/100 km, the range exceeds 480 kilometers per tank.
Colors and options of the 2026 Honda NX500
The 2026 Honda NX500 will be available in three new color combinations:
- Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic with Pearl Bosporus Blue
- Graphite Black with Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic
- Pearl Horizon White with Mat Crypton Silver Metallic
Each scheme combines matte finishes and metallic tone details to accentuate the model’s adventurous and robust aesthetic. The specific stickers and the redesign of the logos complete a more modern and aggressive image, without losing the characteristic Honda elegance.
Honda also offers a complete range of original accessories developed in parallel to the model and grouped in four packs:
- Adventure Pack, with side fenders, fog lights, hand guards and smoked screen.
- Travel Pack, which includes semi-rigid side cases and a rear bag of up to 22 L.
