Pecco Bagnaia
The MotoGP leader is on a roll heading into the 2024 Aragon GP. Having equalled his personal record of seven wins in a season and coming off a double triumph at Spielberg, he is looking like the rider to beat. This weekend, he will be racing at a circuit where his 2025 teammate Marc Marquez has a corner named after him, adding emotional and symbolic weight to the event. But given the mental strength the Italian rider has shown so far this year, we don’t think he’ll be intimidated by it in the slightest. In fact, he already beat the number 93 a couple of years ago.
In 2021, the two-time world champion had yet to win in the category. Everything changed on Sunday, when the then number ’63’ rider battled intensely against eight-time world champion and local favourite Marc Marquez in a thrilling duel. Bagnaia resisted seven overtaking attempts in the final three laps, thus achieving his first ever MotoGP victory and consolidating his place among the winners of the premier class.
Jorge Martin
‘Martinator’, the immediate pursuer who cannot be underestimated and who will be eager to put as much pressure on Bagnaia as possible. Throughout the 2023 season, Martín proved to be fast and consistent, qualities that he maintains in 2024 and that have allowed him to stay very close to the lead. Just five points behind Bagnaia, Martín has learned to avoid unforced errors and has become a formidable rival in the fight for victory, capable of finding that crucial tenth of a second at any time.
Enea Bastianini
Enea Bastianini, meanwhile, is looking to close the gap in the standings after losing ground in Austria. However, his victory at Silverstone was a reminder of his speed and ability to compete at the top. With 61 points adrift of the leader and 333 points still up for grabs, Bastianini is preparing for a crucial phase of the championship. The 2024 Aragon GP will be a highly-rated event for him, having already proven capable of beating Bagnaia here in 2022 when the number 23 was driving for the Gresini team.
Marc Marquez
Despite a rocky start to the season and two recent crashes in recent Tissot Sprints, he is coming into Aragon in a strong mood. His performance in Spielberg showed that he still has the pace to compete at the highest level, and racing at home, on a circuit that runs anti-clockwise, could be the perfect combination for him to shine again. The stage for the 2024 Aragon GP is set for a great weekend for the number 93.
Other pilots like Brad Binder and Marco Bezzecchi They also arrive with high expectations after strong results in Austria. Binder scored a top five on KTM’s home turf, while Bezzecchi took a solid top six. Both will be hoping to keep the momentum going at the 2024 Aragon GP, along with Franco Morbidelliwho showed flashes of Spielbergian speed despite some setbacks.
For Aprilia, the 2024 Aragon GP promises to be a more favourable event than the recent Austrian Grand Prix. Aleix Espargaro achieved a podium in the Tissot Sprint and his teammate Maverick Vinales had a decent performance with a seventh place. This time, racing at home, both riders hope that Aprilia will be back in the fight for important positions.
Among those seeking to improve are Alex Marquez and Pedro Acostawho will face an additional challenge in the race for the Top 5. Acosta, in particular, is coming off a difficult weekend in Austria and needs to bounce back quickly.
Finally, Honda and Yamaha arrive in Aragon after a discreet performance in Austria. Joan Mir and Fabio Quartararotogether with his teammates, will have to work hard to improve their results and score crucial points again.
With all this, the 2024 Aragon GP is shaping up to be an event full of emotions, with more than just points at stake. Glory, honour and reputation will all be in the balance, making this event one not to be missed.
