In recent times it is quite common for us to see electrification in the sportier Mercedes. It can be seen in several models in its range, the latest to arrive is the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+. It is the way to take the E-Class to the extreme with the formula so widespread today. It is not with the four-cylinder block as happened in other AMGs, but with the six cylinder to become a very outstanding sedan both for its level of power and its features.
As we said, the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine is the protagonist, but an electric motor is also used to continue the plug-in hybrid tradition. Both combine to have 585 HP of joint power, although they can be 612 HP and 750 Nm of torque with the Race Start function activated. In this way it is also capable of completing the acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 280 km/h (with the optional AMG Driver’s Package). In electric the maximum is limited to 140 km/h.
This model has the AMG Speedshift TCT 9G automatic transmission, which also integrates the electric motor. It is also complete with a 28.6 kWh battery (21.22 kWh net), which is what allows it to offer an electric range that exceeds 100 kilometers. It can be charged in alternating current at 11 kW, although a 60 kW direct current fast charger is optionally offered. To cope with the new developments at a mechanical level, this E-Class has had to reinforce your body and be modified in many points.
The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ also boasts its own design, loaded with specific elements. The grille frame is illuminated, has widened wheel arches, air intakes with vertical fins or 19-inch wheels as standard. Optionally, 20-inch or 21-inch forged ones can be mounted. The rear has darkened LED lights, which are below the AMG spoiler on the trunk lid. The diffuser is also signed by AMG and integrates two double exhaust outlets.
In the cabin of this example you can see gray ash wood molding open-pore seats with the AMG logo, plus electrically adjustable AMG sports seats. The upholstery is made of Artico artificial leather and Microcut microfiber with red contrast stitching, while some specific menus are added to the MBUX multimedia system with the optional Superscreen monitor for the passenger.
