Neither ecology nor fashion, the Strait of Hormuz crisis changes the motorcycle market in Pakistan forever

Donald Trump, that yellow-haired man in charge of the most powerful nation on the planet, very given to invading countries by force, has managed without knowing it (and we assume without wanting it) that the growth in the sale of electric motorcycles in pakistan has been fired.

Basically, because the consequences of their attempted invasion of Iran and the resulting global energy crisis caused by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, has skyrocketed the price of fuel.

A fact that is not trivial at all and that seems to have made the citizens of the country rethink the type of purchase when we talk about motorcycles. Among other things, because the battered economies of most of them do not allow them to spend a large part of their salary on gasoline.

In addition, the local government has been promoting the purchase of electric motorcycles for years through various aid, which indirectly discourages the acquisition of conventional models.

Electric motorcycles in Pakistan out of pure necessity

According to the latest reports published in relation to the sale of electric motorcycles in Pakistan, it has nothing to do with the decision of citizens to choose. The economic pressure caused by the energy crisis that is being experienced in much of the planet forces the people of the country to adapt.

The situation is such that according to reports from Visor Down, even companies and individuals dedicated to the conversion of internal combustion motorcycles to electric models have been overwhelmed by the demand for applications in recent weeks: “Haseeb Bhatti, who recycles gasoline motorcycles and converts them into electric ones, saw a sales increase of around 70% in March.”

They conclude: “Another businessman, Ali Gohar Khan, recorded the highest sales increase in his history in his seven electric motorcycle franchises.” On the other hand, we have the aforementioned government aid that includes interest-free loans and different subsidies that can cover up to a fifth of the total amount of the purchase of electric motorcycles in Pakistan, when they are new.

In short, a collateral situation to the war in Iran that in a certain way is benefiting a part of the country’s two-wheeled sector, even if it is at the cost of harming traditional brands and their “old-fashioned” combustion models. Having said that, we wonder if we will suffer a similar situation in Europe… We will cross our fingers that this does not happen.
