Are we running out of ideas in the two-wheel sector? This is the feeling we have after seeing the upcoming SRK 921 SV, which seems to be the next neo-retro sports bike that QJMotor will present sooner rather than later. A bike with a clear inspiration? from the MV Agusta Superveloce. And we say inspiration because, in the absence of images of its final design, its features are difficult to distinguish from those of the Italian.
It seems that we have normalized the idea that Chinese brands launch new models on the market that are entirely based on the design of another brand, generally of European or Japanese origin. However, this technique is usually the result of the multiple agreements that the brands of the latter origin have made with the former.
QJMotor SRK 921 SV: A Superveloce with a Chinese twist
As we already know, QJMotor and MV Agusta signed a collaboration agreement last September 2020, by which the former would help in the distribution of MV Agusta in China. The fact is that these terms have subsequently been extended, and the Asian firm now uses the well-known mechanics that MV Agusta motorcycles carried until not long ago.
Now it seems that these terms of collaboration have also reached the key aspects of the design, as the first images of the SRK 921 SV which QJMotor seems to be polishing to include it in its current range of models. A sports bike with lines very similar to the Superveloce from the Varese firm, which would be developed on the basis of the new SRK 921 RR.
Because it looks similar, it even adopts the initials that refer to the name of the transalpine model, SV, or that is what we initially deduce, unless QJMotor indicates otherwise. So, at this point, we can safely say that we are looking at the future Chinese Superveloce, which includes distinctive features of the Italian such as the double round optics, front and rear respectively, single-sided swingarm or rearview mirrors anchored to the ends of the handlebars.
On the technical side, it is presumable that the SRK 921 SV equip most of the elements already shown on the SRK 921 RR, including the 921 cc inline four-cylinder engine, from which are extracted 129 hp at 10,000 rpmA suspension system signed by Marzocchi, top-level Brembo braking, a six-axis IMU, a 5” full-colour TFT instrument panel or a Full-HD front camera could be part of the model’s standard equipment.
It is not yet clear when the SRK 921 SV will be launched and whether the brand will follow the same marketing guidelines as with the RR version. That is, to offer it only in the Asian market for the time being, before making the jump to Europe later.
This will surely be something that we will have no doubts about in the coming months, probably after EICMA 2024, when QJMotor will unveil a good part of its upcoming innovations.
