At the end of summer 2024, orders for the new Ford Tourneo Connect Plug-in Hybrid will begin, the version that takes the brand’s compact minivan to a new level, whose deliveries begin at the end of the year.
The propulsion system of the Tourneo Connect Plug-in Hybrid combines a 1.5 EcoBoost gasoline engine, an electric engine and a high-voltage battery to achieve 150 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque. They are associated with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Announce up to 110 km of autonomy in 100% electric mode, so it would get the Zero label.
Interesting that it supports direct current charging of up to 50 kW of power (the most common chargers in Spain) and of course slow alternating current charging of up to 11 kW. As is usual in this type of plug-in hybrids, it has several energy management modes:
- Go now: Only the electric motor is used if there is charge in the battery.
- VE Auto: balances electric and gasoline power, adapting to driving conditions.
- Go after– Uses gasoline engine only, conserves battery power for later use.
- GO Reserve: Saves a driver-defined energy level for later use.
It is the first model of its characteristics with this propulsion system (the brand has the much larger Tourneo Custom Plug-in Hybrid). You can choose the five-seat variant or the seven-seat Grand Tourneo Connect Plug-in Hybrid (see test) and it does not penalize the battery or space in the cabin or charging capacity (2.6 and 3.1 cubic meters respectively).
In the equipment section, it has a 10-inch screen for the instrument panel and a 9-inch screen for the SYNC infotainment system, compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay wirelessly. There is no lack of a good number of driving assistants, such as reversing with trailer Pro, intelligent adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, Lane Keeping System or Exit Alert. With the FordPass application, information such as range, battery charge levels or recharging time until full, as well as maintenance alerts or remote door locking and unlocking, can be accessed from your mobile phone.
The Ford Tourneo Connect Plug-in Hybrid is offered in three finishes:
- Trend: The simplest already offers 16-inch wheels or both screens.
- Titanium: adds chrome details, roof rails, tinted windows and driving aids.
- Activate: more country-looking, with a panoramic roof or machined 17-inch alloy wheels.
