The fundraising to help María Costello has already achieved 94% of the objective

María Costello is going through, without a doubt, the most complicated moment of her entire sports career. The terrible accident she suffered during practice at the Isle of Man TT in the sidecar category, and which sent both her and her co-pilot to the hospital, will mean a before and after for her.

And the injuries that Costello has suffered are multiple and severe, so the recovery process will be complicated and long. At the moment and based on the information disseminated by the promoters of the campaign to help María, she remains paralyzed from the T5-T6 vertebrae down.

To this injury, which is complex and delicate in itself and for which at the moment there is no more information on long-term consequences, we must add the rest of the injuries that separately would already be complicated, such as the fracture of the vertebrae themselves, the fracture of the sternum, the arm, the nose, the eye socket, facial damage and the liver laceration.

Costello is still in the hospital, and the recovery process has no date.

Despite the passing of the days, the count of injuries is chilling, and Costello is still admitted to the hospital being treated for them. But within all this disaster that the injuries and their consequences represent, there is a small ray of hope, and that is that the fundraising to help María is being a success.

The two-wheeled community is dedicating itself to the collection launched to obtain the necessary funds for Costello’s treatment, and the possible adaptation of his home that he must make when he can return to it. The objective was to raise 250,000 pounds, about 290,000 euros at the exchange rate and, for the moment, more than 230,000 pounds have already been raised, which represents more than 94%.

The collection through GoFundMe remains open and even if the initial goal is achieved, money can continue to be contributed to help the veteran British pilot in her new challenge.
