At the start of marketing of the new MINI 3-door 2024, its most capable version is the MINI Cooper S. It is equipped with a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 204 HP (150 kW) and 300 Nm of torque, associated with an automatic sports transmission, as well as a powerful brake system, precise steering and the classic low centre of gravity to provide sensations. The most radical are waiting for a successor to the MINI JCW but if you are one of the eager ones, you can choose the MINI Cooper S in John Cooper Works trim.
The Cooper S already offers very good performance, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds (with a consumption of 6.4 l/100 km). With the John Cooper Works trim, it gains details that recall the highest-performance model series, from the victories at the Monte Carlo Rally in the 1960s, to the 24 Hours at Nürburgring (it won its category in June 2024).
The MINI Cooper S in John Cooper Works trim is distinguished from other trim levels by its front and rear diffusers and the JVW logo in the classic red-white-black colours of the British flag. Also noteworthy is the octagonal front grille in high-gloss black. There is also a contrasting roof and mirror housings in the same colour. It has exclusive wheels (17 or 18 inches) that reveal the black brake calipers with JCW badging.
Inside it has sports seats upholstered in black synthetic leather, with multicoloured knitted fabric on the shoulders and red stitching. The same combination is seen on the dashboard, black and red and resembling a chequered flag. There is also the 240 mm diameter OLED screen, which includes a MINI navigation system with 3D display and magnified view… or the MINI Experience Modes that vary the interior ambience (anthracite red in Go-Kart mode).
Despite being a version of the utility vehicle with a clear sports focus, it has a large arsenal of driving assistance systems, integrated into the package of functions Driving Assistant Plussuch as lane keeping assistance or the Parking Assistant Professional, which recognises suitable parking spaces and initiates parking processes autonomously on request. When leaving, the function Safe Exit As standard, it warns you if other vehicles are approaching before opening the door.
