Everything seems to be almost ready for the opening of the new Moto Guzzi factory in Mandello del Lario. According to the Italian media Moto.it, the completion of the works is projected for the second half of next February, as initially scheduled.
The late Roberto Colaninno, CEO of the Piaggio Group since 2003, declared at the presentation of the project: “The new factory will be a point of reference for fans of the brand, for the young world and for international tourism. For all those who want to get closer to the uniqueness of Moto Productos Guzzi.”
The new Moto Guzzi factory aimed at environmental sustainability
Under the tutelage of the American architect Greg Lynnthe new Moto Guzzi factory is in his words: “a production plant located in such a spectacular place, between a lake and a mountain, whose century-old buildings are full of cutting-edge technologies.”
This is a project that will transform the historic Moto Guzzi headquarters: the production lines and offices will be new, but alongside these structures there will be areas for events, designed for visitors and free time, and a new, larger space dedicated to conservation of the historical memory of Moto Guzzi. The expansion of production capacity will be accompanied by a completely new concept of the Mandello plant.
The new Moto Guzzi factory will include new production lines for state-of-the-art engines and motorcycles. Historic buildings are adapted for new purposes, including experimental, testing and restoration laboratories. Recent and existing structures are being redesigned, allowing visitors to take a look at the development and manufacturing processes of the next generations of motorcycles, as well as innovation milestones born from the brand’s legacy.
All this combined with the application of new manufacturing and energy use systems, thanks to the implementation of photovoltaic equipment and the use of eco-sustainable materials. A mix of past and present that highlights the brand’s more than one hundred years of history, under a future perspective aimed at continuous improvement in each and every one of the processes carried out in this new Motorcycle factory.
