The Zero Lompico takes another step towards the street and its patents leave a big surprise in sight

A few months have passed since Zero Motorcycles showed its Lompico concept at the last EICMA 2025. At the same time, Hero MotoCorp presented its 2026 electric range under its VIDA brand and within this what we knew at the time as “Project VxZ”. In both cases we are talking about the use of a common platform with which both companies claim to seek “the transformation of the global landscape of two-wheeled motorcycles.”

Zero Lompico: new details before its launch

After just over three years of collaboration, it seems that the fruits of it could be reflected in the form of a new model within the Yankee company. After the last official patent registration by Zero Motorcycles, the initial Lompico concept seems to be destined to become a supposed Zero SF.

In any case, after the leak of some of the images that accompanied the request, we can firmly affirm that both the latter and the expected Vida VxZ are practically the same motorcycle, except for aesthetics. Here we see how the Californian brand chooses to mount an unusual bodywork with its own identity. Also a front presided over by an unconventional headlight, composed of a central LED and two vertical strips on the side panels.

New details about the future Zero Lompico confirm what we already intuited

From here on, wheels, brakes, fork, swingarm, battery, motor and steel tubular chassis are the same in both models. There also do not seem to be any differences in the instrument panel, the shapes of the handlebars or the controls anchored to it. On the other hand, what draws attention in these images from the patent registry is the certain resemblance of this Zero Lompico with some of the technical features that at the time showed the first sketches of the concept presented on the occasion of Pininfarina’s 95th anniversary.

Let us remember that Zero has also collaborated with White Motorcycle Concepts in some of its research projects, the same company in charge of shaping the design published by the Italian company. Having said this and focusing on the fundamental technical aspects of the future Zero frame, at the moment we only have the official data offered during the Lompico presentation at the Milan Motor Show last year:

New details about the future Zero Lompico confirm what we already intuited

  • Cypher 4 operating system
  • Advanced connectivity and adaptive control, with performance that adjusts to the environment
  • 8.8 kWh capacity battery
  • Maximum power of ~30 kW (~40 HP)
  • Fast charging, from 0 to 80% in less than an hour
  • Lightweight chassis with controlled traction and high-level suspensions

Although it is expected that the commercial name will finally be Zero SF, according to Cycle World colleagues “The name Lompico derives from an area of Santa Cruz near Zero’s headquarters in California.” A curious fact to say the least, although ultimately not very relevant if you end up using the aforementioned commercial acronym.
