Yamaha R7 2026 – Technical Data Sheet, Photos and Price

The 2026 Yamaha R7 has established itself as one of the most accessible and balanced medium-displacement super sports cars on the market. Since its launch in 2021, the model with the CP2 engine has managed to bring the DNA of the R range closer to a young audience looking for sporting sensations without giving up daily usability. For 2026, the Iwata firm completely renews its proposal with a set of technical improvements that increase performance and refine the driving experience.

The new model arrives at a key moment for medium-displacement sports cars, coinciding with the expansion of the Sportbike World Championship and the leading role of the R7 in single-make competitions such as the R7 Cup and the FIM Women’s World Championship. Yamaha takes advantage of this evolution of the segment to introduce in the R7 electronics derived directly from the R1, a redesigned chassis and a more ergonomic driving position, maintaining the balance between sportiness, accessibility and control.

Yamaha R7 2026 engine

The 2026 Yamaha R7 maintains the well-known 689 cc CP2 engine, in-line twin, with DOHC distribution and liquid cooling. This engine, widely tested in models such as the MT-07 or the Ténéré 700, stands out for its elastic character and its linear torque delivery. However, the incorporation of the YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) electronic throttle marks a qualitative leap in performance and smoothness of response.

The YCC-T system electronically interprets the rider’s commands and adjusts the throttle opening more precisely, resulting in a more progressive torque curve and a superior feeling of control. In addition, this advance has allowed the introduction of different power delivery modes (PWR), adapting the engine response to the driving style or terrain conditions.

The gearshift has also received a thorough overhaul. The transmission features a new gear design that improves smoothness and precision, especially in the first three ratios. Added to this is the third-generation Quickshifter (QSS), which allows up and down gears without clutch with two possible configurations, optimizing performance both in sports driving and in everyday use.

Chassis, suspensions and brakes of the Yamaha R7 2026

The chassis of the new 2026 R7 has been completely revised to offer more agile and predictable behavior. Yamaha has modified the geometry and structure of the chassis, optimizing the layout and thickness of the main tubes to increase torsional, longitudinal and lateral rigidity without penalizing the total weight. The result is a more stable motorcycle when cornering, with a more precise feel when leaning and greater confidence when braking.

The rear swingarm has also been redesigned to improve traction and feedback from the rear axle. At the front, the 41 mm inverted fork maintains the fully adjustable scheme in preload, compression and extension, but replaces the steel bars with aluminum ones, reducing weight by 350 grams and improving the initial response of the assembly.

For the first time, the 2026 R7 adopts Yamaha’s SpinForged wheels, which significantly reduce inertia and contribute to lighter, more precise handling. They ride on Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 tires, developed to offer constant grip and balanced behavior on road and track.

The braking system, sensitive to inclination thanks to the IMU, incorporates brake control (BC) and an advanced engine brake management system (EBM) with two levels of adjustment, in addition to the rear slip regulator (BSR), which acts when the rear wheel tends to lock during sudden downshifts. These aids allow finer control of dynamic behavior in highly demanding situations.

Technology and equipment of the Yamaha R7 2026

The technological leap of the 2026 Yamaha R7 is the most notable since its appearance. The introduction of a 6-axis IMU, derived directly from the R1, allows the integration of a complete set of electronic assists: traction control (TCS), slip control (SCS), lift control (LIF), launch control (LC) and engine brake management (EBM). All these systems are configurable at various levels of intervention or even completely disconnectable.

The new R7 2026 also incorporates the Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) system, with three predefined driving modes —SPORT, STREET and RAIN—, as well as two customizable modes. Using the MyRide app, the user can adjust power, traction or slide control parameters, and save up to 40 different configurations that can later be loaded onto the bike.

The instrumentation adopts a 5-inch color TFT screen, with full connectivity through the MyRide application and the CCU communications unit. This connection allows you to view notifications, calls and messages, as well as integrate navigation through Garmin StreetCross. In “Track” mode, the panel shows a lap timer and essential information for riding on a circuit.

Among the new additions, the cruise control, the speed limiter and the emergency stop signal system (ESS) stand out, which activates the emergency lights in sudden braking. The handlebar controls are newly designed, more ergonomic and intuitive, and include self-canceling turn signals.

Finally, the R7 2026 is compatible with the Y-TRAC Rev application, which allows you to record and analyze driving data, such as lean angle, cornering speed or throttle position. This tool offers users an experience close to that of a professional pilot, with the option of comparisons and “virtual whiteboard” messages in real time.

Colors and options of the 2026 Yamaha R7

The 2026 Yamaha R7 will be available in three main colors: Icon Performance, Midnight Black and an exclusive 70th Anniversary decoration, inspired by the legendary R7 from 1999. The latter combines the classic white and red tones of the Japanese firm, paying tribute to the seven decades of history of the Yamaha Motor Company.

Along with the standard colors, Yamaha will offer a line of original accessories that includes fairing protectors, racing screen, seat covers, carbon fiber components and machined parts. In addition, a specific collection of “Paddock Blue” clothing is launched, with competition variants and a more informal “Essentials” line, as well as a range dedicated to the commemorative colors of the 70th Anniversary.

Price and availability of the 2026 Yamaha R7

The new Yamaha R7 2026 will arrive at European dealerships in April 2026. Although the brand has not yet confirmed the final price, it is expected to maintain a competitive position within the mid-displacement sports car segment, placing it below the R9 and slightly above the current 2024 version.

Yamaha thus reinforces its R range with a balanced super sports car, technologically advanced and suitable for both everyday use and enjoyment on the track. The R7 2026 represents the logical evolution of a concept that combines accessibility, precision and a direct connection with the sporting spirit that has defined the brand for more than 70 years.
