CUPRA Born VZ, the sports version that was missed

The first electric car from the Spanish brand is the CUPRA Born. While we wait for the arrival of the next ones, the CUPRA Tavascan and the CUPRA Raval, the firm has decided to liven up the wait with a version of the high-performance electric compact, the CUPRA Born VZ.

The latest addition to the range means taking the model much further. The CUPRA Born VZ (from Veloz), has a 240 kW (326 hp) of power and 545 Nm of torque. The performance is really good since it completes 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and has a maximum speed of 200 km/h, which is a lot for an electric car.

It's not just about benefits. All that power is transmitted much better to the road since the suspension offers a new geometry. Among other novelties, the steering is more sporty and the braking has been sought to transmit better sensations.

On the outside it has an image similar to other versions, but with nuances. It incorporates two new designs, 20-inch alloy wheels (some of them forged), the VZ emblem on the rear and new colors such as dark forest and the Midnight Black. In the cabin it gains sportiness, with new CUPBucket seats as standard and shift paddles behind the steering wheel to control regenerative braking (there are three levels).

In addition, it gains a new touch screen for the infotainment system, which grows to 12.9 inches, with the backlit touch bar to adjust volume and climate control. It integrates an optional high-fidelity sound system with 10 speakers, developed together with Sennheiser, with 425 watts of power and with the software AMBEO Concerto from Sennheiser that even differentiates the instruments and better redistributes the sound throughout the interior of the car.

With this version the brand seeks to enhance the attractiveness of a model. In 2023, they managed to sell 45,300 units, which represented an increase of 44.4% compared to the previous year, according to Wayne Griffiths, CEO of the firm.
