Skoda always has an eye on the competition and takes advantage of that experience to provide sportsmanship to their street cars. The proof is those with the last name vRS that have been in their range since the 70s. One of the most recent to hit the market has been the Skoda Enyaq Coupé RS, a performance electric car that surprised many details. One of them was not the weight, which seemed high to us. However, now they present the prototype Skoda Enyaq RS Race to demonstrate how far that specimen could go.
It is a competition variant of the electric, a copy that bears the Skoda Motorsport seal with improvements at all levels. It is a concept car which could also serve to introduce innovations to future production models. They have focused mainly on weight reduction, with impressive 316 kg less than the street model. They have taken the Fabia RS Rally2 as an example and widened the vehicle up to 72 mm at the front and 116 mm at the rear, while lowering its height by 70 mm.
To lighten the weight of the Skoda Enyaq RS Race, they have intensively used the biocomposite. This material, also known as biocomposite, is made up of resin and flax fiber, making it very light while maintaining the necessary rigidity. It has been used in almost the entire body and interior, while what was not strictly necessary was eliminated and the glass surfaces were changed to lightweight polycarbonate. There is a reduction of more than 300 kg, despite the fact that it has an improved suspension system, high-performance braking system or the roll cage.
In terms of design, you can see that widened in its bodysomething that affects the design of the headlights, which have been darkened. Additionally, the Crystal Face grille has been replaced with a thin LED strip. To optimize aerodynamics, a NACA air inlet on the roof and a huge fixed rear spoiler are included, as well as air inlets that improve cooling. It has the option of 20-inch aerodynamic wheels and the same powertrain as the production model. Of course, its interior is worthy of any racing car with Atech seats, six-point harnesses or a fire extinguisher.
