Yamaha R9 2025 – Technical Data Sheet, Photos and Price

More than three years have passed since rumors began about the possible arrival of a 2025 Yamaha R9 to the Japanese firm’s model range. But time flies and on October 9, 2024, what seemed like a dream has become a reality. A motorcycle that arrives to redefine the category, in addition to positioning itself as the spearhead of the category among Yamaha’s registered sports cars.

Recall that Yamaha made the decision for its iconic R1 to become a track-only model from 2025, with the introduction of the R1 RACE and the continuation of the R1 GYTR. In this way, the new Yamaha R9 combines design and technology derived from competition, along with the proven CP3 three-cylinder engine platform. The result is a perfectly balanced package, with highly usable sports performance on the road and extensive performance on the track.

Rivals of the Yamaha R9 2025

In the category of high-performance sports shoes we can find models of the stature of:

In the mechanical section, Yamaha uses its well-known CP3 platform to power this R9 2025. We are talking about an 890 cc three-cylinder DOHC engine, fed by a fuel injection system and equipped with liquid cooling and 4 valves per cylinder. With internal dimensions of 78.0 mm × 62.1 mm, it is subject to a compression ratio of 11.5: 1.

With these technical data, the R9 2025 declares a maximum power of 119 HP at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm at 7,000 revolutions. All of this, combined with the precise control offered by the Yamaha Microprocessor Controlled Throttle (YCC-T), provides optimal performance both on the track and on the road. The final drive ratio, ignition timing and injection mapping are optimized to deliver supercar performance on both track and road.

Cycle part of the Yamaha R9 2025

In the cycle part Yamaha has done its best to shape its new R9 2025. To start with the lightweight aluminum Deltabox type chassis, weighing only 9.7 kg. This makes it the lightest ever used in a Yamaha Supersport model, with a final weight of the assembly, in running order, of only 195 kg.

The suspension team highlights a new 43mm KYB inverted front fork which includes a Kashima coating darkens the gold/bronze color of the bars providing an authentic performance aesthetic. The rear shock absorber can be adjusted in preload, rebound damping, compression, contributing to great precision and a better reading of the road or circuit surface.

The braking, on the other hand, has Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers derived from competition, stainless steel metal brake lines and large 320 mm front discs that offer excellent consistency and a controllable feel, especially in prolonged use and under hard braking. To take the stopping power of the Yamaha R9 to another level, a Brembo radial pump is incorporated.

The equipment is anchored to 17” wheels shod with Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport RS11 tires in sizes 120/70ZR17M/C and 180/55ZR17M/C, front and rear respectively. Other relevant data about this Yamaha R9 are, for example, the seat height of 830 mm or a fuel tank with a capacity of 14 liters. The wheelbase reaches up to 1420 mm.

Equipment and finishes of the Yamaha R9 2025

If we have already talked about the mechanical and dynamic sections of this R9 2025, we cannot forget others such as technology or aerodynamics. That is why the 2025 Yamaha R9 includes cruise control and speed limiter, high-tech six-axis IMU or the integrated Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) driving modes. To the three integrated driving modes: “Sport”, “Street” and “Rain”, the option of two pre-configured customizable modes and four Track modes has been added.

For optimal starts in competition, the R9 also incorporates a launch control system and for track use, there is the option to deactivate the rear ABS. Finally, highlight one last key element in this section, which is none other than Yamaha’s third generation Quickshift gearbox (QSS). All of this will be controlled from the R9’s 5″ full-color TFT screen, customizable with four selectable themes.

Another key aspect of the 2025 Yamaha R9 is its aerodynamics through a combination of the front fairing design, while the new aerodynamic spoilers, added just below the front optics, reduce front lift and improve contact with the road.

The spoilers reduce front wheel lift by 6 to 7% in a straight line, and when combined with the front spoiler located under the M intake duct, this effect increases by up to approximately 10% when cornering.
