The Scrambler family steals our hearts with these prototypes that, hopefully, will hit the streets

Revealed to the world in Bike Shed Moto Show some days ago, Ducati unveiled two new prototypes of its Scrambler. On the one hand, the CR241 and, on the other, the Scrambler RR241. Quite different because the CR241 It is an agile-looking cafe racer, with a stylized semi-fairing, and the RR241which is an epic dirt track creation with a much tougher look.

Both models are based on the robust range Scrambler, equipped with the Desmodue 803 cc air-cooled V-Twin engine and a tubular steel chassis. These motorcycles are part of the current portfolio of Ducatispecifically in the Nightshift, Icon and Full Throttle versions.

Starting with the CR241, the inspiration for its design is clear. Evokes classic icons such as Ducati 750SS of the seventies and the Pantah from the early eighties. In this variant, the standard 18-inch front wheel has been replaced by a sportier 17-inch one, and the mixed tires have been replaced with rubber suitable for the road.

At the rear, the wide, flat seat has been modified to include a removable cover of the same color for the passenger seat. Clip-on handlebars and bar-end mirrors replace tall bars. And a semi-fairing that kicks off the tank completes its athletic appearance. Despite the sportier look, the power is likely to remain the same, with 72.2 HP.

On the other hand, the Scrambler RR241 presents a more robust aesthetic, inspired by Ducati in post-apocalyptic films and series such as «Mad Max«. With a street tracker look, the RR241 has an exhaust Termignoni high exit, a raised front fender and spoked wheels (with a 17-inch rear and an 18-inch front, like the current Nightshift). Of course, highlight the tires Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR 50/50.

Despite their off-road appearance, the chassis and suspension components appear to be the same on both models, sharing the components Kayaba 150 mm of travel from the rest of the range, which limits its real capacity for really difficult terrain.

While the previous model Desert Sled It had a reinforced suspension and a larger front wheel, this new variant is more urban than adventurous. At least now.

Ducati has replaced the tank side panel covers with protective bars, which they suggest could be used to secure luggage. In addition, the passenger seat can be removed to install an always practical luggage rack. An extra practicality that never hurts when traveling.

We still do not know if these prototypes will enter the production phase. But what we do know is that some surprise will be in store for us. scrambler family Ducati for next season. Or at least, that's what it looks like.
